ABOUT | Digital Alert Systems

In 2003 – having been involved in emergency communications since 1990 – Digital Alert Systems founders Bruce Robertson and Tom Wood determined there were three important issues surrounding exiting EAS systems. One, the original scope of EAS was expanding – becoming more important and critical to government agencies. Two, the EAS equipment available at the time was not up to task and needed significant technological improvements. And, third, a blended approach leveraging the best information processing technology with network-centric thinking, and an understanding of current broadcaster requirements would better serve and create a more relevant EAS platform which incorporated easily upgradable software to ensure long-term viability.

The result of their initial ideas and innovative thinking was the DASDEC™ EAS Encoder-Decoder. Certified by the FCC in 2004 and subsequently launched to the market the same year the DASDEC has proven the wisdom of the Digital Alert Systems founder’s original thinking.

In 2005 Digital Alert Systems entered an exclusive manufacturing and licensing agreement with Monroe Electronics of Lyndonville, NY to manufacture and market the DASDEC for the Cable, IPTV, and Campus communications industries under the One-Net™ brand. Starting business in the 1950’s, Monroe Electronics is a respected leader in the development, manufacturing and support of multi-channel equipment throughout the world and was a uniquely suited partner. The combined Digital Alert Systems and Monroe Electronics formula has proven itself with over 1000+ units located in cable, Telco/IPTV, and campus headends throughout the US and it’s territories.

In late 2009 Digital Alert Systems and Monroe Electronics took their partnership to a new level by merging operations, manufacturing and worldwide support under one primary organization. Under this new chapter Digital Alert Systems became a division of Monroe Electronics.

Digital Alert Systems remains dedicated to the company’s initial vision – continue creating better ways to improve overall EAS operations, enhance forthcoming compliance changes like CAP and IPAWS, by leveraging the best technologies with a network-centric approach, and providing customers the best possible sales, service and support.
